back to high school

hello fellow bloggers!
last night Joel took me to see "17 Again" (with Zac Efron and Matthew Perry). very good movie! it was funny and sweet...your typical girl movie. i loved it and joel even said he liked it. so i'd give this movie an A!

it got me to thinking, i would not ever want to go back to high school. and i've only been out of high school about two years. there was definitely things about high school that i loved and it would be fun to do again, like play softball, or put together a yearbook. but then there's also things i wouldn't want to deal with again...namely drama! and i'm not talking about on a stage with actors and costumes...even though that's really all high school is. even being homeschooled...there's so much drama over the smallest things. where in a public or private school you have drama in the hallways, or the parking lot, homeschool drama is via email, or text or phone calls. so stuff is spreading like wildfire, and you never know it because you never really see anyone that's spreading it, and then all of the sudden, jr./sr. banquet (because we weren't allowed to call it prom) you're the talk of the night, and not because your dress was the prettiest. oh...and that's another thing about homeschooling that kind of erks me....we don't have competitions...because someone's feelings will get hurt....! for instance, Homecoming Court...you know...that formal event at the basketball game where the girls are escorted down the court, looking lovely, only to have one named Homecoming Queen...we don't name a homecoming queen in the homeschooling world...because it would be unfair...and we don't support popularity contests. :rolls eyes:

now, don't read this wrong in thinking i'm against homeschooling, or dissing it, or hated being homeschooled...i LOVED being homeschool. it was freedom! lol! and i loved the friends i had in high school along with the teachers (and yes i had teachers other than my mom). but, with that said, God will have to work a miracle (which he can do) in my heart for me to want to homeschool any future children i may have. God bless my mom for having the patience and the other parents who put together the Pulaski County Flames organization...'cause homeschooling through high school wouldn't have been the same without you! :) GO FLAMES!

  1. It's funny that you say that because my aunt homeschooled my cousins when I was young and I thought that was just the WEIRDEST thing EVER! I never ever thought I'd be a homeschooler. God has a great sense of humor... :)
